DIAGNOSE UI

Internet Addiction

The PocketShrink Internet Addiction Test is based on PRELIMINARY research by neuroscientists and psychologists which indicates that there are similarities between excessive use of the internet, gambling addiction and substance abuse. In everyday practice clinicians regularly treat people whose internet use has caused them significant difficulties. However, Internet Addiction is NOT a recognised disorder of the DSM IV. Therefore, this test gives a preliminary indication of whether internet use has become clinically problematic to the user. (Or child being tested). Created by Neuroscientists and psychologists who practice in the field, the test was designed to be a sensitive and accurate guide, easily used by the general public, and also a handy objective tool for the clinician. It gives an indication of whether the internet is causing significant behavioural problems in an individual’s life. As such, it does not presuppose or advocate that Internet Addiction is a bona fide, clinical disorder.
